Bhoutan

     Le pays où les gens sont les plus heureux. Ce n'est pas le PIB qui est en priorité, mais le bonheur intérieur brut. Un paradis qui n'est pas accessible pour tous car pour un pays d'Asie, c'est assez dispendieux. Allons rencontrer ce peuple et ses beaux paysages.

 

     Ne pouvant pas me promener seule, il faut absolument faire affaire avec une agence de voyage locale, j'ai choisi l'agence Keys to Bhutan.  Le Bhoutan contrôle le nombre de touristes et les guident tout au long de leur voyage.  De cette façon ils préservent leur culture et leur environnement.  C'est quand même le pays le moins pollué au monde et dont le 3/4 de la nature est protégée.

14 Days/13 Nights

 

Day 01

Arrival in Paro - Thimphu (1 hr)

Upon arrival at Paro airport, our representative will pick you up and transfer to Thimphu. Being your first day you could take it easy. If you still have energy, visit Memorial Chorten (temple) built in the memory of late 3rd king. This is a great place where mostly old religious people going around the temple chanting prayers. Later in the afternoon visit Tashichodzong, the fortress. Bhutanese rich Art and Architecture. Evening stroll around Thimphu streets or relax in your hotel.

Day 02

Thimphu Sightseeing

Morning visit the Traditional School of Arts and Crafts and see the students at work. Visit the Folk Heritage Museum, which houses the collections of typical Bhutanese farming tools explaining how people lived in the olden days. Later visit the traditional handmade paper mill, could get some good opportunity to get some pictures of workers in action. Drive to Dechenphodrang monastic school and meet the monks at work/studies. Continue your drive to the enclosure where the national animal, Takins are kept. Drive further up to see the areal of Thimphu valley.

Day 03

Thimphu - Punakha (2hrs)

Morning, drive for Punakha over Dochula pass at 3010m. If weather permits, you can enjoy a spectacular view of some of the highest mountains peaks of Bhutan at a sight that stretches almost 180 degrees. Walk around the newly built 108 stupas and continue to the sub tropical valley of Punakha. The drive offers beautiful landscape. Before arriving in hotel, go for hike through the paddy field for Chimi Lhakhang, the temple of fertility associated with the religious art of phallus. Afternoon must arrive in Punakha before the sunset to get the perfect light over the impressive Dzong of Punakha, which is an example for Bhutanese rich Art and Architecture. Evening back to the hotel.

Day 04

Punakha - Trongsa (3hrs)

Morning head for central Bhutan, Trongsa. Enroute hike to the unique village of Rinchengang, which has a very old history dating back to early 1600. The hike to the village is worth with lots of photo opportunity of the village activities and children running after you. Continue your drive and if time permits, stop on the way in another villages of Rukubji for some other pictures. Later, upon your arrival after checking in the hotel, visit the impressive Trongsa Dzong. It was from this Dzong that the Bhutanese rulers fought off the British invasion attempts in the 1800s. Also visit the newly opened museum at the watchtower over looking the Dzong.

Day 05

Trongsa - Tang (3.5hrs)

Mornig excursion to Kuenga Rabten village, the winter palace of the second king. The drive is quite remote and offers a beautiful landscape. Enroute, stop in the rustic village of Esha. Back to the hotel for lunch and after lunch head for Tang valley. Before arriving Tang, you will get an opportunity to see the locals weaving the unique yak wool blankets, which is of very special from the central region. Continue your drive for the remote village of Tang, where the last quarter of the journey is through the dirt road. Just before reaching your Guest House, you need to hike for half an hour crossing the bridge to O'Chholing palace, the ancestral home to the royal family of Tang region,  which is converted into a museum and a guesthouse. Very, very few tourists get to visit this village. It's a quite little village, which got electricity last year.

Day 06

Tang halt

Morning walk around the tiny village, meeting the locals and interacting. Witness their morning village activities. Enjoy the calmness and the beautiful view of the Tang valley. Later visit the unique museum of O'Chholing, which has very fine collection of Bhutanese arts and artifacts and covers almost all the details of Tang village activates during the olden days. Evening visit the village again meeting the shy children and visit a farmhouse and join them for tea or local made wine.

Overnight: O'Chholing Guest House

Day 07

Tang - Jakar (1hr)

Morning bid farewell to the family of the museum and walk down the valley and catch your car to drive back to Jakar. Afternoon at leisure. Or could visit Jakar Dzong for Arts and Architecture and enjoy the view of Jakar valley.

Overnight: Jakar | Altitude 2650m

Day 08

Jakar Sightseeing

The beauty of this valley has attracted many important Buddhist masters over the centuries. Bumthang has the most number of religious sites than any other district in Bhutan. Visit temples like Jambay Lhakhang, Kurjey Lhakhang, Tamshing Lhakhang and Khachudra monastic school. Most of the sightseeing can be done by hiking.

Overnight: Jakar

Day 09

Jakar - Phobjikha (3.5hrs)

Morning drive for the picturesque valley of Phobjikha. Enroute visit the village of Chendibji for some photo opportunity. Phobjikha is the winter home for the endangered black necked cranes, migrating to Bhutan every October till February. Visit Gangtey monastery, the richly renovated monastery offering rich architecture and paintings. Walk down to the valley through the village for your hotel. Enjoy the spectacular view of the valley from your room. This is the only place on your trip that doesn't have electricity. 

Overnight: Phobjikha | Altitude 2900m

Day 10

Phobjikha - Punakha (1.5hr)

Morning go for walk and meet the school children right below your hotel who all walk for hours to reach their nearest school. Later drive for the warm valley of Punakha. Lunch in the windy town of Wangdi and drive further to Punakha. Later in the afternoon you could go for walk just above your hotel.

Day 11

Punakha - Paro (3hrs)

Morning start retracing your journey back to Paro. Upon arrival in Paro, visit the National Museum and visit Paro Dzong, the last fortress of your trip and walk down cross the old wooden bridge where your car will be waiting for you.  Evening explore the charming town, visit many small shops that sell everything from beetle-nut to exquisite traditional fabric.

Day 12

Paro - Haa - Paro (Day Excursion)

Morning drive to the isolated valley of Haa over Cheleda pass at 3980m, one of the highest motorable road of Bhutan. On a clear day toward the northwest directly overlooking at you, one can view the highest snowy mountain peak of Bhutan, Mt Jumolhari 7300m. Enjoy the photo session, especially of the colourful prayer flags. Continue your drive to Haa valley, which recently opened to tourists. Picnic lunch and explore the quite little town of Haa and later drive back to Paro.

Day 13

Paro Sightseeing

Morning hike to Taktshang, the Tiger's Nest (2hrs uphill), the most revered temple in the country that literally hangs on a granite cliff overlooking Paro Valley. Taktshang is probably the most photographed monument of Bhutan so enjoy taking pictures. Most of your day will go on the hike only. Evening witness a game of archery, the traditional game before hunting for souvenirs around the town. Farewell dinner in the town.

Day 14

Departure

Morning transfer to the airport (15mins) for your departure flight. Our staff will bid you farewell at the airport.
